And what if we add savouring local seasonal cuisine to all this? Try out the home-style cooking that characterises Catalan cuisine. Discover local wines and pastry products, and enjoy the aromas and hustle and bustle of our local markets. And if you are a contemplative person and like to savour tiny details while relaxing and immersing yourself quietly in a different culture, then this too is the place for you

With two population nuclei, Torroella de Montgrí is a culturally very rich town of medieval origin shaped by the mountains and plains. L’Estartit, a former fishing village, has now become a major centre for tourism. Both make a destination that is well connected to the main countries in Europe, have high-quality services and offer good value

70% of the municipality lies within a natural park with high scenic value and a host of itineraries to discover and activities for enjoying nature. If you like keeping healthy while discovering Mediterranean landscapes fuss-free, you can walk the GR92 trail, the River Ter Route or seventeen local paths around the park. If you prefer cycling and more intense sports, you can extend the route by taking the Pirinexus or exploring the cycle-touring network of the Baix Empordà region.

The region boasts a wide range of nautical activities, which include sailing, kayaking, boat trips, snorkelling and, particularly, scuba diving. If you love diving or would like to try it, do not miss the opportunity to dive at one of the Mediterranean coast’s exceptional seascapes.

The Platja Gran beach and the beautiful coves shaped by the cliffs of L’Estartit provide a peaceful backdrop in some seasons of the year. The constantly pleasant temperature and the sun turn these landscapes, which are so popular in summer, into a pleasure for all the senses. Enjoy the beach in a different way!

Torroella’s wide range of cultural activities makes any time of year a good time to soak up the local culture and heritage. Discover the zone’s interesting network of museums and art galleries and the delightful ceramics of La Bisbal. You are close to the Dalí Triangle (Dalí Museum in Figueres, Salvador Dalí’s House in Portlligat and the Gala Dalí Castle in Púbol), to the city of Girona, to some of the most beautiful medieval towns of the Empordà region (Peratallada, Ullastret, Pals, etc.), and even to the city of Barcelona, and can therefore move around and enjoy the experience of losing yourself in some of Catalonia’s most iconic landscapes.

The meeting of the plain, the sea and the river has given the region a varied range of local culinary products, which you can not only try out in restaurants but also buy at charming local shops. Look for the quality seal —of Empordà designation of origin wine and oil, elvers from the Ter, and other products— and breathe in our region’s aromas.

In addition to water sports, you can also enjoy a broad range of recreational activities in natural surroundings (trekking, cycle touring, horse-riding, trail running, mountain biking, observing flora and fauna, etc.), or take guided visits to discover the cultural heritage. All these activities are designed to be done with the family or in small groups. They come in different levels of difficulty and demonstrate the municipality’s firm commitment to quality and to sustainable tourism, as evidenced by possession of quality certifications (EMAS, ISO, SICTED) and the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism – EUROPARC.
